So many of us authors attempt to market our books to the public through running ads on large social media platforms like FaceBook. While there are some authors that absolutely drive a lot of profitable book buys and views from FaceBook, there are many more that end up just spending a lot of money and seeing minimal results. Of course, there are many reasons why this would be the case and some of those include our actual books, book covers, the genres we are in and things like that. Let’s assume for a minute that all books are equal and that we are just trying to market them. No, actually let’s assume that we are authors of children’s picture books and we want to get our FaceBook ads to the right audience. Here are some tips that should help us be successful:
Don’t get too easily discouraged with your marketing efforts, it’s just part of the business. The best way to approach this is to keep iterating on your ads until you find a template and type of ad copy that works well for you to get the results you want. In order to do that you have to be pretty disciplined and let the numbers guide you to the right decisions. Whatever you do though don’t just slap a picture of your book or of you holding your book into an ad and expect massive amounts of success. Please try to focus on why your audience might be interested and engage with them on those terms. Good FaceBook marketing and good marketing in general is achieved only when we marry what we are selling with the value it can provide to others.
