Puzzle Pieces Unlocking ADHD in Women: A Journey of Self-Discovery by Melanie is a representation of recognizing ADHD. A guide on understanding and self-discovering the presence of ADHD and what it really means. Through her personal traits, the author uncovers how to stay grounded and leave with it. She explores topics such as burnout and managing emotions when having ADHD. Puzzle Pieces captures the lives of diagnosed ADHD patients, bringing understanding to those not yet diagnosed and those self-diagnosed. Understanding the traits one possesses is important, as it is the beginning of uncovering why one acts the way they do. It’s informative in nature, capturing the highlights and cons of having ADHD. I fully enjoyed reading this book as someone self-diagnosed with ADHD. I found it to be relatable and it made me feel seen. Knowing that the struggles others face are similar to mine brought a sense of normalcy. I, however, got confused on a certain page when the preface and table of contents popped up, distracting from the flow of the book. This was after the interest-based nervous system. I, however, still found the book to be helpful and educational. I mostly enjoyed the phases of burnout and navigating dopamine-driven tasks.
