From our reviewers
Meghan Hunter and The Butchhillphyer by Emily O Welliver is a fantasy book about a girl called Megan. Her life changed when tragedy met her and her friends. She was the only survivor. People started saying she's the one who killed her friends, so she and her mother had to move for a fresh start. On Megan's first day at school in the new town, she met David, who seemed to like her immediately. Their bond became stronger, and David's girlfriend Amanda got jealous. Later on, Meghan learned that Amanda actually killed her friends. She learned about vampires and half-vampires, and she was from a lineage of hunters. Her friends showed up and had been turned into bloodsuckers that wanted to kill her; she had to kill them before they turned her. When she went home later that day, she found her mother had just been killed by Amanda. This is a fantasy book, and there's use of figurative text that makes the reader visualize exactly what is being talked about at the specific moment. There is also use of humor which makes it really interesting and relatable. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves local supernatural creatures. I personally love them, and this made me enjoy the book even more. I really loved the book; the story was so interesting it felt like watching a movie, couldn't stop reading once I started; was so curious to see what unfolds. The book was so entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book. I genuinely enjoyed reading it. I would love to read the second one too. My favorite character was David.
by Scovia OdekHere's a short summary. After losing her best friends on a tragic incident involving a menacing monster, grief and guilt are Meghan's constant companions. She embarks on her senior year at a new school. Then came David Hyde, a captivating enigma with eyes that held a thousand secrets. He shattered the monotony of her despair, drawing her into a world she never knew existed. Soon, Meghan's carefully constructed reality crumbled, replaced by a startling truth: she was no ordinary teenager, but an heir to a legacy of vampire slaying, a descendant of a line forged in shadow and steel. My reviews on the book- Meghan Hunter and the Butchhillpyer is a Teen and Young Adult fiction book by Emily O Welliver. It tells the story of Meghan Hunter's journey through life as she tries to forget her traumatic past and move on. This story explores multiple themes, such as grief, loss, loneliness, isolation, mystery, hidden identity, and destiny. It also involves different timelines and wonderful connections between them. I've been a great fan of vampires and werewolves since The Vampire Diaries. On the first hint of David's unusual reaction to blood, I easily guessed David has something to do with Vampires. The vampire theories, and the Victorian-style mansion similar to The Salvatore Boarding Home gave me nostalgia. The plot turned out to be great and engaging. I enjoyed most of the characters in the story, including the antagonists, Amanda and Vincent. While the initial connection between David and Meghan wasn't smooth, I enjoyed how their connection deepened throughout the story. David's attitude toward Amanda in the beginning was unusual, but once I realized her true colors, I understood why he behaved that way. I also caught up on David being a vampire. His sudden shift in behavior every time blood is mentioned gives it away. Lewis is an amazing Detective. He truly cared about the reality of the situation and tried his best to uncover the truth. I too wonder how he's going to report everything he saw, haha. Tim and John proved to be great friends to David, and for this reason they are my favorite characters. How did Sarah know Beliest is her father? Because I recall her calling him "Daddy," just after Victoria reveals the secret about his daughter to Beliest. Did I miss something?? Overall, I enjoyed reading this story. It takes a lot of creativity to come up with an engaging plot like this, so I truly appreciate the author's efforts. I also didn't come across any grammatical errors or any negative aspects of the book. Hence, I would like to rate this book four. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy chilling mysteries, with a blend of classic vampire and werewolf lore.
