This Time Tomorrow and other stories by Eleanor Wells is a collection of ten tragic stories illuminating the struggles of ten women in dark positions of life searching for any semblance of hope, happiness, and fulfillment. The book brandishes a psychological atmosphere in which the main character in each story is in search of either love, acceptance, a higher living, or fighting with one challenge or the other. It also explores dark themes of domestic abuse, suicide and suicidal ideations, murder, and violence. Nell, Nat, Cassie, Rose, Janet, Madeline, Freya, Oona, Masha, and Ingrid; all ten women had experienced either in other people or themselves the cruelty of life, and their stories share the uncertainties of this world. For the first time in her life, Nell carried a hitchhiker and shared the fear and worries of a stranger. Nat loses her key and is forced to establish a bond with the sweet couple that were her neighbors. Meanwhile, Rose sits in a courtroom ready to testify in a case she is still very much confused about. For Cassie, she reluctantly reconnects with an old acquaintance, while Janets first time trying Halloween tricks is enough to corroborate her fears. These stories, as well as the other five, are different stories of different experiences but hold a singular lesson of how uncertain the world is. I must wholeheartedly commend the authors artisticness in crafting ten compelling and engaging stories that stand out individually. In each story there is a potent lesson to learn. The author did a great job in narrating the stories briefly but with immense impact that no doubt leaves readers touched by the experiences of the characters. The authors descriptive ability is profound and carries readers into the world and experiences of the author. I will be rating this book a solid 5 out of 5-star rating and will gladly recommend it to lovers of psychological thrillers.
