From our reviewers
Drawn Together by Samantha Zamora is a mix of drama, love, and romance. Laina is a young girl who is trapped in a toxic relationship in which she lost her voice and sacrificed her dreams. Despite that and despite her feeling of loss, she held on to that relationship until the shock occurred, which made her confront herself. She goes to L.A. to search for her artistic passion and reclaim her life, hoping for a new beginning, but will she succeed? Will the past remain behind her? Laina meets Adrian; she affected his life, and he caught her attention; she always wondered if she could love and trust again. The author was able to integrate the depth and complexity of relationships into the story's angles, whether through the different personalities or the fine line that separates love, control, deception, and honesty. The main characters in the story aren't free from past trauma, as they are both trying to heal from those traumas. Will they be able to? Using the third-person perspective, the author was able to make us follow the events and be affected by their influence. She was able to depict the characters who affected the protagonists' lives in one way or another, such as Jax, the controlling, toxic character who hides a lot. She could also draw basic characters, even if they appeared a little, such as Fred, whom Laina met at the airport. Or a disturbing character like Vanessa. Love and arrogance, comfort, passion, and search for justice anticipation of the future, and fear of the pastmany of the feelings were related to the characters or those around them, but they made the events interconnected to come out in harmony. The book discusses complicated relationships that contain trauma, as well as the implications of those traumas on future relationships. How to be strong enough to leave a destructive relationship and build a new life. There are unconventional relationships in the book and an act of violence that some readers may be sensitive to, so that must be noted. The language used, while fitting the plot, is more suitable for mature readers. The narrating style effectively reflects the feelings, events, and situations that the characters go through and conveys them well. Despite the coherence of the tale, I believe the book needs another round of editing to improve the reading experience. First of all, the font size had an impact on my reading, which was quite small; even with zooming in, it was really tiring while reading. Here I am talking about my copy. Other points are subjective, but for me, as a reader, they are essential. The book lacks a table of contents. The font used to write the chapters' titles doesn't differ from the general structure of the book. It needs distinctiveness. Building a healthy relationship nowadays is more challenging; it isn't easy to follow one's dream and maintain the passion, let alone the mix of all these together. The process requires two parties. Drawn Together is a carefully written story, although I disagree with some ideas presented. The overall story carries meanings of self-discovery, healing, and fresh starts that will appeal to many readers.
by Sara ZainSometimes we lock ourselves inside even when the door is right in front of us, just waiting to be pushed open to reveal the beauty, hope, discovery, and new beginnings that lie beyond. Lainas life reflects this struggle, as best captured in Samantha Zamoras novel, Drawn Together. Initially, she wrestles with doubts about the genuineness of Jaxs love, often stifling her inner voice. However, upon uncovering the undeniable truth, she decides to start anew, regardless of the challenges this new journey may bring. She leaves Savannah for Los Angeles, where she begins to experience the life that Jax had kept from her all along. That said, LA can be daunting for newcomers. The pressing question remains: will she ever find love and reignite her love for painting? Laina is an admirable, talented protagonist whose desire to make the most of her creativity will move readers. Love eludes her at first, but while in LA, she meets Adrian, with whom they get involved. Adrian is the exact opposite of Jax, which begs the question: what can go wrong this time? Well, it turns out Adrian has an ex, one who still holds a grudge, who finds it almost laughable how unaware people are of their nothingness. For romance readers, Drawn Together hits the mark because Zamoras characters are relatable individuals navigating the challenges and thrills that life offers. Interestingly, both Jax and Vanessa share controlling and manipulative traits in their relationships. Laina and Adrian both carry the scars of their past relationships but are determined to give love another chance. Detective Rojas gets caught up in Vanessas charm, to the point where he loses focus on his case, but ultimately makes the right decision. Though Drawn Together is engaging and deserves high ratings, it can still be argued that it is unnecessarily long. Whereas Lainas encounter with Alexander reveals the sides to Laina and her friendship with her girlfriend Bridget, it stretches on and on. While at the Tao, where Laina again meets Adrian, among others, the readers are immersed in a lot of details that could have otherwise been trimmed. In summary, Drawn Together marks the beginning of Lainas journey, and will leave readers eagerly waiting for what is coming next.
