From our reviewers
A Thief Among Friends by Carol Vallario is a different book with some really good plots. The story revolves around four childhood friends - Carol, Sue, Gail and Donna. The three friends have taken a right path and were doing great in their lives. On the other hand, Carol took a path which is very different and risky. She didn't want to make little money by doing simple jobs. She rather choose to earn big money by scamming with people around her. Although she is enjoying her job but deep down she also wants to settle down just like her other friends. She started taking drugs and was in an abusive relationship. Her friends unaware of her scams wants to help her to settle in her life, and took her to a rehabilitation centre. But little did they knew that she is not only addicted to drugs but there is much more than that. It is such an interesting story. This story tells us the importance of friendship, family and love in our life. Everyone needs true friendship, who always stand by our side. But sometimes we ignore them and didn't listen to them. The book also highlight that we have to face the consequences of our sins in this life only. I find the pace of the story a little slow. The writing is very simple and quite easy. The plot is very fascinating. Overall the book is a great one and it is 4/5 stars. I appreciate the author for such an interesting read.
by Akansha ChauhanThere seems to be a contradiction in the saying that says "Birds of the same feathers flock together". A Thief Among Friends by Carol Vallario is a story of four women where one is like taking quite a different path from the rest. A risky one. Carol plans for having easy money rather than go to college like her friends. Gains from ripping men off, bar thieving, scamming from her kind boss in an insurance company until she takes it to the next level and starts working on more scams. There is involvement with several men. She earns big time. Friends can't avoid to fret. They are doing good in their own lives so far and they can't help to think of Carol in her dangerous schemes. They want to help, but how? A Thief Among Friends proves that our sins will seek us out, no matter what. It speaks of friendship, trust and family, and what they truly mean. Donna's situation being Carol's friend is of great consequence. It also tells to not despise advices, to be careful in business dealings and professionalism. I therefore give this book a four-star rate for its inspiring plot and themes. Profanity is present, a little caution to the young readers, but worth the time because it's a good read. I recommend this book for students for the importance of pursuing education, having dreams and aspirations in life. For people as well, who are into any ventures to take heed.

by Karen GurtizaCarol Vallario's novel, "A Thief Among Friends", is a wonderful exploration of the complexity of friendship and the implications of one's decisions. The plot revolves around Carol, a girl who is infamous for stealing and manipulating others, including her family, friends, and boss. She manipulates situations and exploits them to her advantage because of her cunning personality. Carol also suffers with addictions, particularly to narcotics. Despite her choice to control her addiction through therapy sessions and interactions with others who are dealing with the same problem, she is able to confront and fight her addiction, but she is continually tempted to relapse. Unfortunately for Carol, her wrong choices catch up with her, and her relationships with her friends and family are strained, resulting in unpleasant conversations and repercussions she must face. This novel takes readers through an emotional journey as they watch Carol's struggle and victory. I enjoyed how this book was written and edited. I admire how Carol decided to fight her addiction rather than simply give in to it. I also enjoy the lesson the author was attempting to convey to those reading the book—a very essential one about honesty. It gives readers a sense of hope and the possibility of change for the better. The book's small print was one of the things I didn't enjoy about it. This may deter readers from finishing the book. Other than this, though, the book's writing and editing were excellent. I give this book a rating of four out of five stars and suggest it to those who enjoy adventure novels.
by Sele EmmyCarol, Sue, Gail, and Donna are four childhood friends who, at the start of the book, had just graduated high school. On the night of graduation, the four friends decide to go out to their favourite bar, where they realise Carol's true nature. Carol did not want to go to college; instead, she wanted to take the easy route of getting rich, which involves a lot of stealing and scamming. This causes a drift between her and her friends, and they lose contact for six years. After years, the girls have progressed with their lives, while Carol is still on the same path, moving from one scam to another and exploiting people for their money. After reuniting, the other friends begin to settle down with their partners, making her start to doubt if she actually wanted the same for herself. To settle down and have a decent man who would love her instead of moving from one man to another only for sex. I enjoyed the book so much that I read it in two sittings. It was really engaging, and I was so eager to know how Carol would end up. Her relationship with Ritchie did a number on her and introduced her to something she never would have imagined, which would be the start of ruining her life even more. Would she be able to get back up and find her footing? Will this encounter finally be a turnaround for her, or will she just keep to her ways? I will stop here to ensure I don’t give spoilers. Potential content warnings would include the use of drugs and sexual content. I have no criticism about the book, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a little thrill.
by Sahee DanCarol Vallario's debut novel A Thief Among Friends sucks you right into the tangled relationships between a tight-knit group of childhood gal pals. When unrestrained Carol introduces petty crime into the fold as teens, tension simmers as the friends drift apart. When they reunite as adults, hidden secrets and divided loyalties turn the drama dial to 10! Vallario doesn’t just spin a propulsive plot here - she nails the complexity of evolving friendships over decades. Wild child Carol leaves a wake of hurt, but still earns the gang's empathy. We get to know each relatable personality intimately through alternating past and present chapters. As the central mystery around Carol's shady secrets unravels, heavy themes around trust, regret and second chances unfold. Are Carol's hustles and deceptions too much for the friends to forgive? I tore through pages dying to know! Granted, the pacing lags here and there, and some plot twists feel improbably convenient. But Vallario’s gift for characterization and trafficking emotionally resonant themes outweighed any quibbles for me. These people felt real, and thus I was invested through the final reveal. For fans seeking a propulsive, relationship-centered mystery, add A Thief Among Friends to your book club's reading list! The characters stay with you long after the last page leaves you wondering about friendship’s delicate bonds. An impressive debut. Can’t wait to see what Vallario cooks up next!
by Tejas Koli“A Thief amongst Friends” by Carol Vallario is an ebook revolving around the story of a female named Carol involved in numerous illegal sports, together with embezzlement and alleged pyramid schemes. Events unfold as Carol’s drug use and manipulative conduct, as well as her relationships with buddies, lead her to a complicated private existence. Readers are left in suspense as to whether the prison effects of Carol’s actions will trap up together with her or whether she can take a U-turn. I love each moment of this e-book. It has its moments of tension, such as confrontations with law enforcers and private betrayals, in addition to the emotional struggles of the characters. The e book fully expresses topics of friendship, agree with, betrayal, and the effects of 1’s picks. The e-book's narrative is non-linear, with snippets from diverse points in the characters’s lives, imparting me with a view into the book's characters relationships and how Carol’s moves tend to have an effect on them. Dom seemed to be a less appealing character to me. Carol’s unbended revenge against Dom for stealing from her, which suggested he had wronged her in some way, as well as the actions and troubles he finds himself in as well as the threat he poses to Carol's safety by potentially involving her in his criminal affairs, contribute to his character being seen in a negative way. Apart from that, this book has a nice story plot, and I commend the author for his engaging writing style. I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars.

Throughout the narrative, we encounter how Carols actions and choices have far reaching consequences for herself and those around her whilst delving into the complexities of relationships as well as the conflicts and challenges that come from her deceitful behavior. This book is truly a must read for whosoever interested in Character-driven novels ultimately questioning the nature of friendship and the boundaries of trust. I particularly love how this book exposes one's view on the dangers of addiction and its impact on individuals and their relationships. Through Carol's struggle with cocaine addiction, I was saddened by the destructive nature of substance abuse and the toil it takes on her life. The book doesn't just shy away from depicting the harsh realities of addiction but also helped me gain conscious awareness about the importance of individuals who suffer from this to help and support through therapy, support groups or rehabilitation programs. I would also advise readers to learn from this and avoid any bad habits that may physically, emotionally or psychologically bring its consequences. This book is a great read with a great storyline and character arc.I would give this a solid 5 stars.
